Frequently Asked Questions
How do we get started finding our new family member?
Check out our website and social media pages. There is lots of information on them. If you are interested in moving forward in finding a puppy, please see the Finding Your Family Member page or use the contact us form below.

How are puppies selected?
Once the puppies are born, we take weekly videos and then have selection day when they are 7 weeks old. This takes place after each puppy gets their individual video, where we talk about their temperament, coat type, grooming needs, expected size and make recommendations for what type of home/family they will fit best with. The selection is made by each client and takes place in order of the deposit list.
What is your health warranty?
While it would be wonderful to be able to guarantee the health of each of our puppies, it is realistically impossible to guarantee that a living animal will not have any health complications in his/her lifetime. Because some health problems can be genetic, we test all our parent dogs for the genetic mutations that have been discovered and are prevalent to each breed. This way we have the best possibility to lessen the chance for them to pass on to our puppies. Even with this testing, health complications can still occur from genetics, the environment or a combination of both. Therefore we feel that this is a partnership between Mountain Blue Doodles llc (the seller) and our puppy families (the buyer) to keep each puppy healthy.
You can access the health warranty here.
Do you get any kickbacks from the products you recommend?
We do not receive any kickbacks or endorsements from the products we recommend. We find them through trying them out and lots of research and want to provide the information to you for the best care of your puppy.
Why do you wait to take a deposit?
Some breeders take a deposit once you are interested in a puppy. We like to wait as there can be unexpected changes, such as a pregnancy that didn’t take or less puppies born than we were expecting. We wait until the puppies are born before taking a deposit.
How does the waitlist work?
The waitlist is very fluid and dependent upon who stays on the list, what puppies are born that match preferences and if we have current clients who have made a deposit that need to move onto another litter. Because of this we do not number the placements on the list.
Our current litters have not impacted that list so far. But if we don’t have a good match for someone then they will move onto that list in order of when they initially contacted me. Because we are not charging a fee to be on the list, my experience has been that many people have moved on by the time I start contacting them about available puppies. Therefore those that stay on the list can move up quickly.
I have allergies, how can we confirm that I won’t be allergic to the puppy?
Our understanding is that it’s a protein, primarily in dog’s saliva and then in their dander, that can cause an allergic reaction. We like to do a saliva test once a puppy is chosen, at 7 to 8 weeks of age, to make sure that there is not a reaction. We do this by swabbing the puppy’s mouth with a small piece of cloth and then sending that to be rubbed on the face of the person with allergies. It’s like a big kiss from the puppy! There is a small fee for this service, just to cover shipping costs. Our experience has been that our curlier coated puppies are more hypoallergenic. These puppies are usually an F1b which is a Bernedoodle and Poodle cross.
What training do you use for your puppies?
We have been very pleased with the results from utilizing the Puppy Culture program for socialization with all of our puppies starting at 3 days old until they go to their new families between 10 and 11 weeks. If you’re not familiar with the program – here’s a little introduction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDH8hyuIxlg
We also offer a 2 week extended training program. These puppies get treated as if we just brought them home for ourselves. They get to participate one on one with daily living such as; going for car rides, visiting stores, sleeping in our room, learning commands, walking on a leash, enjoying their crate and bell training for potty breaks. The fee for this training is $1200 and depends upon availability.
What's the difference between an F1 and F1b puppy?
The different generations of Bernedoodles can be very confusing. So here is a quick explanation of what we have found in our program.
The F1 or first generation (Berneses x Poodle) Bernedoodle can shed to varying degrees. This all depends upon the puppies coat type. This is still nothing compared to the seasonal shedding we see in dogs that do not have the poodle genetics. The curlier and more like the poodle coat the less potential for any shedding while the straighter and more like the Bernese coat the more potential to shed. You can get all coat types with all generations of Bernedoodles. It all comes down to the genetic coat type of the parents.
The F1b (Bernedoodle x Poodle) Bernedoodles can have coats that are on the higher end of being hypoallergenic which is great for those with allergies to dogs. With this cross we have some puppies that will take on more of the poodle coat type from loose curls to tight curls just like the poodles. All of our F1b litters are what we call medium (35-60lbs) or mini (20-35lbs) because we breed to a mini poodle.
For grooming, the curlier the coat the more frequent the grooming needs are, due to their curls catching their hair as it falls out which causes mats. Typically every 6 to 8 weeks they will need to have their hair trimmed.
In the F2 (F1 Bernedoodle x F1 Bernedoodle) and the F2b (F1 Bernedoodle x F1b Bernedoodle) the coats depend on the generation and genetics of the parents.
One of the differences we see in temperaments between the F1 and F1b puppies is that while the F1 tends to carry a pretty even balance between the Bernese and poodle, our F1b puppies have a wide spectrum. We get some that are more active and so smart they get themselves into trouble, some that are very laid back and are content to lay around at your feet and then everything in between.
We work really hard to cultivate a nice medium temperament in all of our puppies by 1st choosing the calmest puppies out of the litter to be our parent dogs. 2nd utilizing early neurological stimulation (insert link to website video of Magnolia’s puppies) and Puppy Culture to cultivate a broad exposure at the right time for each pup. And 3rd we do a diagnostic temperament test for each puppy at 7 weeks, so that we can identify where each puppy is at and work with them further to help them become well rounded.
With all this we are able to identify each puppies temperament pretty well…..such as do they tend to be a bit shy, dominant, passive, high or low energy or confident. This information aids my clients and us in choosing the puppy that will best fit with their lifestyle and preferences.
Can we get a discount?
We do not discount the prices of our puppies as we do not discount the care, training, socialization and time that goes into each one along with our attention to each client.
